Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has signed a contract extension until 2029.
The 21-year-old’s new deal includes a €500 million ($542 million) buyout clause.
Lopez has played six times for Barcelona this season, including starting last week’s 4-1 Champions League win over Bayern Munich and Saturday’s 4-0 La Liga thrashing of rivals Real Madrid after recovering from a muscle injury.
The Spain international, who has two senior caps, made his debut for the Catalan club in August 2023 and has registered 11 goals in 48 career appearances in all competitions.
He enjoyed a successful summer with his country, winning Euro 2024 before scoring six times at the Paris Olympics en route to a gold medal.
“FC Barcelona and Fermin Lopez have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract through to 30 June 2029,” read a statement on the club website.
“The young midfielder’s buyout clause has been set at 500 million euros.”
