Water line dating back to the Roman times have been discovered during the construction works in the yard in Vinica near Vinica Kale which indicates to the existence of developed water supply system from natural sources.
This is a water line connected to a tap as part of the Roman aqueduct connected to natural springs nearby, Julijana Ivanova Director of Vinica Museum said.
According to her, accidental excavations in the private yard, created opportunity for new archaeological research in Vinica.
The remains of Roman times during the construction of aqueducts when was especially developed suggest that the Vinica Kale had Roman settlements. Romans were known as skilled builders.
Cultural Heritage Protection Office is to conduct inspection of the site and will give further instruction on procedures regarding the protection and research of this area.
